Dance is a form of art which is composed of selected sequence of body movements. It gives one joy and is also good for the health of an individual. National dance day was created in order to encourage people and educate them about the benefits of dance. The day was created by Nigel Lythgoe, the co-creator of So You Think You Can Dance and co-president of the Dizzy Feet Foundation but it was officially recognized in 2010 when American congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton introduced a National Dance Day resolution to promote dance education and physical fitness. The day is celebrated across the States of America on the last Saturday of July. Dizzy feet foundation wanted to raise awareness and make dance assessable to all. According to the foundation, dance connects the body to the mind and allows one to find joy in performing an art.

Celebrate the day by enjoying and trying out various dance forms with your family and friends. There are many dance performances which are held on the day which you can go and watch.
