May Events 2018

The month of May is the fifth month of the Julian and Gregorian calendar. The month consists of 31 days so it is one of the longer months of the Gregorian calendar. As far as the seasons are concerned, in the northern hemisphere the month of May is a part of spring season whereas in the southern hemisphere it belongs to the autumn season.  As for the kids it is also a very special month as it marks the beginning of the summer holidays in the northern hemisphere. The festival of the Greek goddess Maia was held in the month of May which is why this month was named in the honor of the Goddess. According to some there is another etymology, the Roman poet Ovid says that the month of May is named after Maiores which is a Latin word for elders. The month is symbolized by;
