Every year on the 5th of December the world celebrates one of the many United Nations Day, International Volunteer Day for Economics and Social Development. It is also known as The International Volunteer Day in short. The day was proclaimed in the resolution of 1885. This day invites the world to donate some of their time to volunteering in ongoing projects at national and International level.
International Volunteer Day for Economics and Social Development
On this day the work of the volunteers in recognized and appreciated. Volunteer webs are created which help the people and organizations perform their duties in a better way. Not only the general public but governmental and nongovernmental organizations also take part in the volunteer campaigns that are run by the United Nations. People contribute to social development and economics in their area. Young are stimulated to offer their services at the volunteer camps and contribute to various activities that are held on this day such as;
- Parades and rallies
- Community work
- Time donation campaigns
Along with these, the work of the volunteers is also recognized and appreciated by holding competitions and award ceremonies. The day is promoted through social media and many across the globe take part in volunteering on this day.
