The day known as the International Human Solidarity Day is observed every year on the 20th of December. The day was proclaimed by the United Nations in the General Assembly of 2005 that was held on the 22nd of December. The United Nations was found of the idea that solidarity was the value that was important at the international level to eradicate poverty and give people the living conditions that they deserve which is why they proclaimed this day to remind the governments of their international agreements on human solidarity which is important to fight poverty. The day aims to remind people of the benefits of Unity and cohesion and how it is important for the world to unite as one and fight against poverty. In the Millennium Declaration, the leaders of the world recognized the fact that poverty could only be eradicated through unity. The people of the world need to unite at the international level to achieve the Millennium Development Goals.
How to observe it?
The day is observed by having seminars and meetings, debates on how to fight against poverty and make the world a better place for everyone to live without any discrimination. The people are reminded of the importance of unity and cohesion through speeches. Various originations give free medical care to the underprivileged, donations and charitable events are also held on this day.
